Steelhead fishing update

Last Monday I drove to the hood river and noticed that the water clarity is good and the water level seems to be fine. The water temperature has been sitting around 40-42 degree F. Since the beginning of February there are have been 72 steelhead trapped at the powedale dam, which means steelhead are holding in the pocket water. 44 of the 72 steelhead have been hatchery fish. I saw a guy land a big steelhead around 10:00 on monday, he was throwing a corky, it was a hatchery steelhead as well. Then on Wendnesday I went out to the hood river again with a good friend, we fished through the morning and mid afternoon but didn't have any hits. There were lots of people and I saw one guy with another hatchery steelhead. So what I'm trying to say is, there are fish coming up the river and the counts are ok. With the weather warming, now might be a good time to head to the hood river.Good luck and cast away.
